Maternity clothes made from bamboo have received a major boost in popularity, thanks to its anti-perspiration qualities and cooling, soothing feel.
Pregnant women are really falling for this new fashion trend, according to Susanne Atkins-Krueger of clothing line Vertbaudet, with current products including vest tops, t-shirts, trousers and dresses.
"It wasn't really a surprise that the bamboo clothes have proved to be among the most popular of our clothes for pregnant women," said Ms Atkins-Frueger.
"The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive and we know that there has been a big word-of-mouth effect. Many customers are visiting our site specifically to find the bamboo maternity wear - bamboo is the big hit this summer!"
Bamboo is highly absorbent, which bodes well for pregnant women who suffer from temperature fluctuations from time-to-time.
With a record-hot summer predicted for 2007, Ms Atkin-Frueger said she was confident that sales figures for bamboo maternity wear would be higher than ever.
